Firstly, Happy New Year to you all, I hope 2017 is full of love and happiness for you all.
Now that the holidays are over and we have all transitioned from 2016 to 2017, it’s time to look back. Often this time of year is filled with resolutions and plans for the upcoming year, but I always find it helpful to take a few moments to reflect on what the past year has offered. Every year that passes I find that it was somehow quicker than the one before, whether that is age playing it’s sinister game, or that my life is getting busier, I’m not sure, but every January I find it more and more important that I allow some time to look back.
2016 was, for want of a better word, a whirlwind! Looking back at it now, it was stacked with great moments, but a lot of it is a blur. With filming for Bryan Inc., starting my blog and subscription box and my youngest, Josephine starting school, it certainly was a full year. And I certainly have a lot to be thankful for.
At the beginning of the year, House of Bryan had just finished and the house was finally done! It had been a long three years, but it was so much fun, there was certainly a mix of achievement and relief in the house. It was at this time that I wanted to focus my attentions on my blog. It had been in the works for a while, but filming and other commitments had taken up a lot of my time. But I was determined to make it my focus and get it online, once and for all. It took a few months, but we launched sarahbaeumler.com in April 2016 and were astounded by the response. You came in your droves and made sarahbaeumler.com an early success.
But I didn’t have time to celebrate, I had to get Sarah Delivered ready. The next month was spent crunching figures, building the website and sourcing products for the first box. In May, we opened up Sarah Delivered and, again, we were dumbfounded by the response. We received almost 500 sign ups in the first week, the office was abuzz with excitement. I knew we had a business then, so the next few months were spent ensuring that our customers were happy and that the boxes were well-received.
It wasn’t soon after that that Bryan Inc. premiered. Bryan and I had been working all year on the show, and finally it was ready to be broadcasted. This process is always nerve wracking as even though we thought the new show was great, it’s the audience’s opinion that matters. However, it was watched by more people than any other premiere on HGTV Canada, and Bryan and I could breathe a sigh of relief. We were very proud.
2016 certainly won’t go down as one of the best years of the modern era, but for the Baeumlers is was a good one. Thank you all for being part of it and for making my blog and subscription box a huge success. So, here’s to 2016, thank you, and to 2017, I’m ready for you!
